Thirty years ago, the Jewish community of Iran experienced an incredible trauma. Despite roots dating back 2,500 years to the time of the First Temple and Cyrus the Great, tens of thousands of Iranian Jews left their homeland for uncertain futures abroad.
Three decades later, Iranian Jews have rebuilt successful lives and communities in the United States, Israel, and Europe. However, each family has its own rich, unique story of sacrifice and courage, which has never been fully told.
30 Years After strives to document this legacy before it disappears from the community’s collective memory. 30 Years After’s THE LEGACY PROJECT is an unprecedented venture to tell an entire Jewish community’s history through videotaped stories, memories, and interviews. THE LEGACY PROJECT will commemorate and preserve Iranian Jewish history by connecting the future of the Jewish people with the legacy of their past.
